Agha Muhammad Baqir

Agha Muhammad Baqir was a Pakistani Urdu researcher, critic, and scholar best known for Bayan-e-Ghalib, first published in January 1939 by Azad Book Depot in Amritsar. The book is a comprehensive Sharah, or interpretive commentary, unpacking the dense linguistic structures of Mirza Ghalib's Diwan-e-Ghalib. In compiling it, Baqir drew on and synthesized earlier interpretations, including those of Nazm Tabatabai, to make Ghalib's poetry more accessible to readers. The work went on to become one of the most respected commentaries on Ghalib's poetry within Urdu literary scholarship.
