Khwaja Muhammad Zakariya is a Pakistani Urdu scholar, poet, critic, and researcher, especially noted as an expert on Iqbal's work. Born on 23 March 1940, he built his career as a professor and long-serving head of the Urdu department at Punjab University, Lahore, where he supervised numerous PhD scholars. His major work includes the multi-volume history of Urdu literature "Tareekh-e-Adabiyat-e-Musalmanan-e-Pakistan-o-Hind" and "Urdu for Beginners." He remains a respected figure in Pakistani academic and literary circles for his contributions to Urdu criticism and literary scholarship.
