Safiur Rahman Mubarakpuri was an Indian Islamic scholar and writer, best known worldwide for his biography of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Ar-Raheeq Al-Makhtum (The Sealed Nectar). Born in 1942 in Husainabad, near Mubarakpur in Uttar Pradesh, India, he began his religious education at home before progressing through several madrasas and earning his Fadilat degree. He went on to teach at Islamic seminaries across India for nearly three decades. His seerah (biography of the Prophet) won first prize in a worldwide competition held by the Muslim World League, and it remains one of the most widely read biographies of the Prophet in the world. He also authored several other works on Islamic history, including History of Islam and History of Makkah and Madinah.
