Abbas Tabish

Abbas Tabish is a leading contemporary Pakistani Urdu poet, born on 15 June 1961 in Vehari district, Punjab. He completed his master's at Government College Lahore in 1986 and went on to teach Urdu, eventually heading the Urdu department at Government College Gulberg, Lahore, while also editing the Raavi digest. He is best known for his modern ghazals and nazams, with works including Raqs Jaari Hai and Shajar Tasbih Karte Hain. He has received the Pride of Performance award and the Malik Museeb-ur-Rehman International Award, and has performed at mushairas worldwide, from Dubai to Australia and Britain. He remains one of the most celebrated and widely read Urdu poets of his generation.
