Muhammad Mansha Yaad was a prominent Pakistani short story writer and playwright, born in Thattha Nishtran village near Farooqabad, Punjab. Though trained as an engineer and employed at the Capital Development Authority, he pursued Urdu and Punjabi literature alongside his career, publishing his first story collection, Band Mutthi Mein Jugnoo, in 1975. He is best known for his Punjabi novel Taanwan Taanwan Tara, later adapted into a hit PTV drama serial, and for numerous short story collections and plays. He received Pakistan's Pride of Performance award in 2005 along with several other honors. He settled in Islamabad, where he remained active in literary circles until his death in 2011.
