Chiragh Hasan Hasrat was a celebrated Urdu poet, journalist, and satirist, born in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir. He worked with major newspapers like Zamindar and Shahbaz, wrote under pen names including Columbus and Sindbaad Jahazi, and authored 16 books such as Kelay ka Chilka and Parbat ki Beti. After Partition, he settled in Lahore, where he remained active in the literary scene until his death in 1955. He is remembered as one of the sharpest and most beloved satirical voices in Urdu literature.
