Wasif Ali Wasif

(1929–1993)
Wasif Ali Wasif was a Pakistani writer, poet, and Sufi mystic celebrated for his aphoristic prose style that came to be known as the "Wasifian style." Born in Khushab, Punjab, he earned degrees in mathematics and English literature before dedicating his life to writing and spiritual teaching. Over his career he wrote around 40 books, including his best-known works Kiran Kiran Suraj, Dil Darya Samandar, and Qatra Qatra Qulzum, exploring themes of love, faith, and human consciousness. He also became known for his regular column in Nawa-i-Waqt and for informal gatherings where he answered questions on life and spirituality in his distinctive style. His reflections remain widely quoted in Urdu literature today.
