Khalifa Abdul Hakim was a Pakistani philosopher, poet, and scholar of Islamic thought, born in Lahore into a Kashmiri family. He earned his PhD in Philosophy from Heidelberg University, Germany, and went on to head the Department of Philosophy at Osmania University, later serving as Principal of Amar Singh College and founding Director of the Institute of Islamic Culture, Lahore. He authored numerous works, including Fikr-e-Iqbal, Islamic Ideology, and The Metaphysics of Rumi, and also translated the Bhagavad Gita into Urdu verse. Renowned for interpreting Allama Iqbal's philosophy and engaging deeply with Rumi and Ghalib, he was honored with an LLD (Honoris Causa) from Punjab University in 1957. He died in Lahore in 1959, remembered as one of the twentieth century's foremost Muslim intellectuals in the subcontinent.
